31/365

Today we went to the Mall of America to get Buster's free legos and to go to Build-A-Bear...we went to the Rainforest Cafe's Build-A-Bear instead of the regular store...this is what Shelby got. What a strange thing for an orangutan to be wearing orange dinosaur slippers with pink skiveys.

I can not wait until spring...or at least until the temps get around 50 degrees so I can start running again. I started running last summer and did my first (and only) 5K sponsored by the company for whom Tom works. This year I plan on training much earlier than I did last year and my goals are participating in at least four 5Ks and crossing the finish line in under 30 minutes. Alas, I think I'll be waiting another three months before I can bare the outside temps.

My sweet little Bellatrix...she is so smart, I couldn't have hoped for a better dog. Every night around 10:30 she's right at my feet, following me everywhere I go, waiting to hear those 4 magic words that let her know it's time...as soon as I say "I'm going to bed" she's right there with me, she follows me up to our bedroom, waits right outside the bathroom door as though she's standing guard over me then waits patiently by the bed until I get all situated. As soon as the light is out and I whisper "ok Trix" she jumps up and lays as close to me as she can possibly get. Tom tells me she lays there until she knows I'm asleep then she heads back down to hang out with him and Bantha. This dog is definitely "mine"!

The room of a 17 1/2 year old...this is perhaps the one and only thing I will not miss about Shelby when she leaves for college in August! I've forgotten the color of her bedroom carpet.

I love these conversation hearts...Necco are my favorite but these Brachs will do when the store doesn't have Neccos. We have seriously devoured 6 bags so far and we still have a few weeks before Valentine's Day.

My beautiful $3.00 Madonna...she's a great addition to my vintage collection of religious treasures. There's a vase in the back for flowers and I think the previous owner may have displayed her outside since her paint is chipping and peeling a little...I think it only adds to her charm.

Shelby and I went shopping in downtown Hudson to our three favorite stores: St. Croix County Dry Goods, La Rue Marche and Abigail Page Antiques. Found a few treasures!

This is the view from under the tower at the TV station. Don't let the beautiful sky fool you...our high today was 16 and that was at 8:00 this morning. The temps have been steadily dropping, it was 9 degrees at 5:00 and our low tonight is expected to be -12. Yesterday was the start of the St. Paul Winter Carnival...wanted to go to Rice Park to see the ice sculptures but we won't be doing that if it's below zero!

This is my morning drive into work...this morning the St. Paul skyline was shrouded in a blanket of fog. Off to the right you can see the sign reading 7:58 am, 13 degrees.

This is one of those days where I feel like I don't have time to even go to the bathroom hence the salami and Pringles sandwich (Buster's idea) and the bad photo (typical Rachel style)...is it okay to skip a day here and there or is that against the Project 365 rules?

On this great day in American history we were lucky enough to have breakfast with President Barrack Obama before he took the oath of office...ok, so we had breakfast with the Obama bobblehead Sebastian got at the St. Paul Saints baseball game last summer. Nonetheless, this was a great day, one I will never forget...faith and hope were given back to the American people at approximately 11:00AM central time.

"Cover up Buster...I'm coming in to take the picture of the day"
Buster replied, "Good thing I'm not naked!"

Laundry day...not as good as the "mailbox" picture but I had some good laughs trying to get this to turn out (not to mention Tom thought I had lost my mind)...this is the best of the 10 pics I took.

Shelby sewing...she made the CUTEST mouse...maybe that'll be my 18/365 photo!

School cancelled again due to the dangerously low temps (-22 real temp, not sure of the wind chill but somewhere in the high minus 30's), Buster was busy with his "color by numbers".

15/365

Nothing like some ice cream on a day when the temps were -37 windchill (-22 real temp)...the kids were thrilled because school was closed. Tomorrow we're getting a heat wave, we're supposed to reach a high of 6 (above zero)...yippee.

14/365

OOPS...way too busy, totally forgot to take a picture on the 14th.

Matt didn't like what Tom made for dinner (burritos) so he made himself PB&J. He'll eat 6 burritos from Taco Bell but not the ones made at home...teenagers???

SNOW DAY...
It's literally been snowing all day and doesn't appear as though it'll stop anytime soon. The boys and I went sledding and had a blast despite a few casualties (ok, I'm exaggerating a little, Sebastian's glasses are messed up a bit and I hit my head pretty hard but we'll all live). The kids are hoping for a "snow day" tomorrow, I think they just might get it.

Narcissus

The Beginning

At the urging of my sister Lisa, I'm doing my own "Project 365" with the hopes of improving my very poor photography skills by, let's say, day 360, or perhaps I just need to figure out how to use my camera? At worst I'll have an online scrapbook for 2009.

Here are days #1 and #2...I just hope I can come up with something to photograph every day...

"Aargh...get it off me!"
