Shelby's cute little owl tile she made in one of her art classes. (Looks WAY better in person!)

I found this little silver box while Tom and I were looking for treasures at Goodwill. A few simple embellishments and now it holds a few of my vintage treasures.
Today is my "big" sister's birthday...happy birthday Lisa!

At's a wonderful day!

Looks like the tooth fairy will be making a stop at our house tonight!

Thursday, March 19, 2009

My, what big teeth you have! Sebastian made this (chalk) dinosaur tooth in his Mad Science class. Looks like the real thing to me!

Sebastian is having his bedtime snack of strawberries sprinkled with sugar (Madison's favorite).

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Monday, March 16, 2009

The doggies are just begging to go for a walk but it's so sloppy out, and they just had baths, so they'll have to wait a few more days to see if it dries up a little bit. Today we hit 62 and it was so nice I went running with shorts on and actually worked up a nice sweat...never thought this day would come. Winters here are soooo long and sooooo cold but our summers are so beautiful they surely make up for it!

Spring has finally sprung...or at least it did for the weekend. We hit the low 50's both Saturday and Sunday and the snow has almost completely disappeared. I'm sure it won't last but we'll take what we can get! The neighborhood kids all appeared again playing hockey in the street and riding bikes, kinda reminds me of a bunch of bears coming out of hibernation, and it's amazing how they all look so much older than the last time we saw them (which was probably in November).

I don't think I need to say anything about this picture...

This is actually Friday, March 13's post...Doggy bath time. Trixie doesn't look too happy!

I wanted to get a picture of Sebastian's report card with him in the background...even though the entire report card is blurry I had to post this one because I couldn't resist that face!

Here's a picture of Sebastian's clay Plesiosaurus that was displayed in the art case at school. He, of course, thought it was just "okay" but I think it's a masterpiece!

(Battery died in the middle of picture taking so the pic will hopefully be displayed tomorrow when I get a new battery)

Tuesdays are garbage pick-up days...and coincidentally, Sebastian received his quarterly lego kit in the mail and it was a garbage truck. (I know, kinda lame but I didn't know what else to take a picture of!)

When did my son get that tall? One day he was a little boy and the next he was a 16 year old young man...thank God I've still got my "baby". (Today's picture taken by Shelby)

A few of my favorite things...

These are my treasures I picked up at the Har Mar Antique show today...didn't have a lot of time to browse because I was on my lunch break but I'm pleased with what I found. to play Rock Band with the kids!

The finished room...the color isn't exactly what I wanted but it'll do, Sebastian likes it and that's the most important thing. The maps didn't stick to the backs of the shelves...they've got a gloss to them so as soon as the glue dried they fell right off...oh well. I'm glad it's done and it's organized for once (although that probably won't last ver long!)

Sebastian's room...a work in progress. I'm completely exhausted!

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

Well, hopefully this is the last day Sebastian's room looks this way...I plan on getting started tomorrow (since I took the day off for me and Shelby to visit Stout but she cancelled at the last minute) and I'm going to work my butt off to get it done. I changed my mind on the paint color, no orange as originally it's a color called "ripe wheat"...I wish Lisa were here, she's the queen of paint colors!

One step closer to that bittersweet day when my first born and only daughter leaves me for college. After dinner we got our first payment, her housing intention card, dorm room contract and health forms ready to mail. (yes, I did cry...again). Tomorrow I have to make an appointment to get her a meningitis shot. The "to do" list keeps getting shorter and the big day keeps getting closer...we've even started making the "what to bring" list. I can see a little panic or perhaps fear in her eyes when we do things like this, it's becoming more real everyday. I just have to keep reminding her (and myself) that she's only an hour away and that she's going to have the time of her life being out on her own and experiencing all that college life has to offer! A thought that brings me a little comfort is how much easier it'll be when Matthew leaves me (or so I hope!)

We're updating Sebastian's some shelves yesterday at IKEA to hold all his books, Legos and Star Wars figures. He wants more of a "big boy" room since he'll turn 8 in April. These are the paint samples we're trying to decide between. His room will be blue and orange and maps...yes maps...state maps on the inside of the shelves and a wall sized world map on one of the walls. I can't wait to "retire" some of his toys. Hopefully the actual room turns out as nice as the room I have pictured in my head!

This is Saturday's picture that I didn't post on Saturday...we finally talked Sebastian into giving "Rock Band" a try...he was petty good on the drums!
